What does Christmas mean to Skills Training Centre?

But what does Christmas mean to you?

After the crazy year we’ve all had, this Christmas, now more than ever, we are all excited to spend time with our loved ones over the holidays. But what does Christmas mean to you?

Do you love the whole December celebrations; from putting up decorations, perhaps seeing snow fall, the sound of Christmas music playing on the radio? Is it the giving of Christmas gifts? The long-awaited and much needed time with family and friends? For each and every one of us, Christmas means something different.

We asked our team at Skills Training Centre what Christmas means to them:

Carmel – Training Administrator: "Christmas to me means spending amazing quality time with my family and loved ones. It also means reflecting on the year that is about to end and the new that is about to begin. It means to have gratitude, be grateful and thankful for what you have as some people don’t have anything and can only dream. It doesn't matter what’s under the tree, it's who’s gathered around it. It is tenderness of the past, courage for the present and hope for the future.

On a fun note it’s also rest, sleep, food, alcohol, family, friends and best of all NO WORK YAAAAY!"

Alan – Sales Development: "Presents, presents and more presents. Turkey and more turkey and loads of beer."

Karen - Director: "Mince pies, turkey and bread sauce!  Eating too much food, spending time with family and a nice long break from work!"

Mark – Ops Manager: "It means the same for me as it does for everybody else in the Christian world. It’s all about the birth of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ."

Claudine – Director: "It's all about family – spending time together and being merry. It is also a time when I feel the most connection, with our neighbours, friends , extended community & strangers– taking the time to acknowledge and do good things to make an impact on a person , however small that may be – I always feel this time of year makes all of that goodwill so much easier to do."

Tim - Director: "It’s a time to get away, go on holiday and recharge."

Skills Training Centre will be closed from 5pm on Thursday 23 December.  A skeleton staff will be working from home on Friday 24 December until around lunchtime after which we will be closed until 8am on Tuesday 4 January 2022.
