Manual Handling People

All those who are required to lift, move or carry people as part of their job.

To enable delegates to lift, move or carry people safely and correctly.

By the end of the course delegates will:

Be aware of their legal responsibilities when lifting

Understand the process of Risk Assessment

Be able to lift/move safely

Revision of legal requirements

Revision of risk assessment

Revision of principles of safe handling

Communication including visual and aural cues for movement

Practise of different situations:

Standing up and sitting down

Walking

Steps

Chair to chair transfers

Moving around on the bed

Sitting hoists

Discussion of any other issues arising
