This four day programme has been designed to comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the 1997 HSE "First Aid at Work" Approved Code of Practice and Guidance. Tuition is classroom based and requires 100% attendance. There is time for practical exercises built into each day. A First Aid manual is included in the price.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

All staff who are designated to be an appointed First Aider.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the programme, delegates will be able to:

    • Deal with emergencies whilst at work which occur to staff and visitors
    • Become qualified in First Aid at Work

Day One

    • Welcome/Registration
    • Introduction to First Aid
    • Resuscitation - Demonstration and Practice
    • Airway & Breathing Difficulties
    • Circulation
    • Introduction to Dressings and Bandages

Day Two

    • Duties of First Aider
    • Unconsciousness (Causes, recognition, treatment)
    • Control of Bleeding
    • Control of Bleeding - Specific Areas

Day Three

    • Burns/Scalds/Poisons
    • Eye Injuries and Conditions
    • Injuries to Muscles Joints and Bones
    • Practical Treatment of Fractures
    • Transportation of Casualties

Day Four

    • Written assessment
    • Practice Resuscitation
    • Practice Bleeding and Fractures
    • Practice Recovery Position
    • Briefing for Practical assessment
