INTRODUCTION

The course is designed to train delegates to be able to set and operate welding equipment, diagnose and rectify basic machine faults, and to be conversant with the capabilities and limitations of the process.

AIMS

The course aims to give delegates essential knowledge of how to safely set up and use welding equipment, a sound understanding of individual controls and their effect on the weld.

  • Safety as applied to different types of welding
  • Identification of controls
  • Setting and adjusting to obtain optimum results
  • Type of wire and applications
  • Types of gas and applications
  • Types of metal transfer (dip and spray)
  • All standard joints in the flat position
  • Requirements of a good weld
  • Fault analysis and correction
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Joints to be completed on mild steel, thickness ranging from 1 mm - 6 mm
