WAMITAB LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATES FOR SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT OPERATIVE (QCF 501/1855/9)

QUALIFICATION SUMMARY

Achievement of the qualification demonstrates competence by the learner to operate appropriately and in accordance with employment requirements as determined by the units selected, within a waste mangement envionment.

The qualification is assessed 'on-the-job' at a suitable waste management facility which may include working on public highways or other areas accessible by the public or other persons.

The structure of the qualification includes some Units which are specified in other similar WAMITAB waste management 'operative' qualifications.

The qualification provides progression opportunities by utilising units that are common to other waste management QCF qualifications. Furthermore, earlier qualification of a similar type can, through for example, recognition of prior learning (RPL), enable progression to the learner to achieve this or other qualifications appropriate to their employment.

A - MANDATORY GROUP

Learners must complete all of the units in this Group in order to achieve the qualification.

QUALIFICATION SUMMARY

Achievement of the qualification demonstrates competence by the learner to operate appropriately and in accordance with employment requirements whilst driving waste collection vehicles as determined by the units selected. The qualification is assessed on-the-job at appropriate waste management facilities which includes public highways or other areas required to access collection locations. The structure of the qualification includes some units which are specified in other similar WAMITAB waste management qualifications. This provides an ideal progression opportunity for learners to achieve further qualifications or specific units to match existing and future employment requirements by building on the units and credits achieved in this qualification.

QUALIFICATION SUMMARY

Achievement of the qualification demonstrates competence by the learner to operate appropriately and in accordance with employment requirements whilst collecting waste as determined by the units selected. The qualification is assessed on-the-job at a suitable waste management facility which includes public highways or other areas accessible by the public and other persons. A key feature of this qualification is the emphasis on health and safety for collection operatives where there is a high risk to health and safety whilst working in the vicinity of public highways during collection activities. The structure of the qualification includes some units which are specified in other similar WAMITAB waste management qualifications. This provides an ideal progression opportunity for learners to achieve further qualifications or specific units to match existing and future employment requirements by building on the units and credits achieved in this qualification.
